Bruce Worrell, D.O. – Cincinnati Bioidentical Hormone Doctor

Bruce Worrell, D.O. is an internal medicine physician with over 26 years of experience. He learned that as we age our declining hormone levels are responsible for a lowered quality of life, leading to such things as heart disease, diabetes, stroke and osteoporosis- diseases that people have come to expect with aging.

This naturally segued into his study of Bio-equivalent Hormones, which do not have the same detrimental effects that synthetic medications can have. By safely and effectively re-establishing the hormone levels that we maintained in our 20 and 30’s; Dr. Worrell believes clearer thought, increased energy, improved sleep and normal sex drive can be enjoyed once again; thus enhancing the quality as well as the length of our lives.

Aging is difficult enough for women without having to suffer from declining hormone levels. Natural menopause is a condition that every healthy woman will experience as she reaches middle age. It is a natural, gradual process that occurs when a woman’s ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone, and her lifetime supply of eggs becomes depleted. The signs and effects of the menopause transition can begin as early as age 35, although most women become aware of the transition in their mid to late 40s. Normally lasting for several years, its duration varies for every woman, and its course is impossible to predict. During perimenopause, a woman’ menstrual cycle becomes irregular and varied, and fertility becomes diminished.

Every woman’s experience is different, but common symptoms of perimenopause include irregular menstrual periods, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, insomnia, and mood swings, depression, and weight gain.

Once women realize they can restore their natural hormones (their bodies once made abundantly) with bioidentical hormones, they can restore their energy, feelings of wellbeing, and sexuality.

Too many women have given up trying to find the right combination of estrogen and testosterone hormones. Once this hormonal balance is determined, combining hormone replacement with a healthy lifestyle and appropriate diet, will allow females to return to a healthy and vibrant lifestyle as well as maximize the years in which to enjoy it.

Symptoms of menopause in women are well studied, but the male equivalent andropause ADAM (androgen deficiency in male) is essentially ignored. Andropause is the period in a man’s life that is marked by a drop in the levels of the male hormone, testosterone. Normally occurring between the ages of 45 and 55, andropause is a slow, steady reduction in testosterone levels. Men suffer needlessly from testosterone deficiency also because hormone deficiency goes unrecognized or the male does not talk about it, especially as it relates to any perceived decline in sexual function.

When men think of diminished testosterone levels, they do not usually relate this to decreased enjoyment of life; however, men may notice a decline in their competitive drive or decreased enthusiasm for things previously enjoyed.

Growing older is hard enough for men without having to needlessly suffer from declines in testosterone hormone levels.

Recent medical research shows that replenishing low testosterone deficiencies provided significant improvement in sexual function and libido, mood, increased energy and general well being for men.

One of the most important aspects of BHRT is that the dosage can be tailored to each individual’s unique hormone requirements. Hormone balance is extremely delicate, and each person is different. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy supports this individual approach and can be fine tuned for optimal benefits. This is Dr. Worrell’s passion and the focus of his practice.

“It is my belief that BHRT may have an integral role in the prevention of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, and certain cancers as we age. If I can prevent these diseases from occurring, then I am really doing something to help you”. Dr. Bruce Worrell, D.O.
